Berlin`90 - Stormy waters
First released as the opening track on the album "Un año de rock en Murcia ´91".
The song was composed by Scottish lead-guitarist and vocalist Allan McCarthy
He wrote the song "on the spot" when the band needed a song for the competition ""Murcia Joven".
The competition was a "battle of the bands" organized by the radio station Onda Regional de Murcia the band first heard of it listening at night to Musica de Contrabando hosted by Angel Sopena.
The resulting prize gave the band the opportunity to record Stormy waters .
They had enough recording time remaining for another 2 songs:
"It´s You Girl" and "Se Hizo El Silencio"
The recordings took place at the end of July 1991 at PM studios ran by musician & engineer Pepe Moreno situated in El Palmar outside of Murcia
The competition was sponsored by the radio station along with Murcia council and a number of big Spanish companies such as the the Caja de Ahorros de Murcia which is a a Spanish bank
This meant that ten of thousands of copies of the album were distributed for free.
in cassette format.
Stormy waters appeared on the cassette as
Side1, Track 1
Having Stormy waters listed as the first track meant the song was the most played track from the album.
DJ´s wanting to play something from the album found it easier to play the first song rather than spending queuing another track.
The song along with the majority of their music was written by Scottish lead-guitarist and vocalist Allan McCarthy
It was recorded in March 1990 along with 2 other songs "Stormy Waters" and "Se Hizo El Silencio" at Pepe Moreno´s PM studio in El Palmar outside of Murcia.
The bands prize from the competition "Un año de rock en Murcia ´91".
